French Onion Crostini

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 tbsp Dutch Farms Unsalted Butter
  • 2-3 white onions, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • French baguette, sliced
  • Olive oil for brushing (approx. 2-3 tbsp)
  • 1 cup Dutch Farms Shredded Swiss Cheese
  • Fresh thyme for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

  • Melt butter in a skillet over low heat. Add sliced onions and mix to coat them in butter. 
  • Caramelize the onions by cooking them on low-medium heat for approximately 1 hour.
  • While the onions are cooking, slice the baguette and arrange on a sheet pan. Brush with olive oil and bake at 400°F for 5-7 minutes.
  • When the onions have finished caramelizing, mix in the salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Top each crostini with a tablespoon of caramelized onions and a generous topping of shredded Swiss cheese. 
  • Place back in the oven and broil on low for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the oven and top with fresh thyme. Serve and enjoy!
